smoking alternatives and new ideas to smoking
Electronic Cigarette Alternative to Smoking
For those who are making the attempt to find alternatives to smoking, it can seem like there is a sea full of information to choose from. Who do you believe? If you take the advice here, you will be able to find the solution you need for your situation and break the cycle.
first you must believe that you can do it. While the physical cravings and withdrawal symptoms of smoking are difficult, your brain is the most important item in your fight. You must be able to work past your cravings and that fight is all mental. Believe that you can do it and you will see success.
Try diversionary tactics. If you are sitting at home alone, you have little else to think of but how much you wish you could have a cigarette. Find things to occupy your time and keep you busy so that you don’t have time to dwell on what you are giving up.
Avoid triggering that make you want to smoke. Alcohol is a trigger for many, so when you are quitting, try to drink less. If coffee is your trigger, for a couple of weeks drink tea instead. If you like to smoke after eating a meal, do something else rather like taking a walk or brushing your teeth.
Try to drink a lot of fruit juice as you begin quitting. The fruit juice will help cleanse your body of all the nicotine that is stored in your system. This will help you better resist cravings that you are bound to get if you do not do this sort of cleanse.
Replace your smoking habit with something else to occupy yourself and keep you distracted. Many people find that chewing gum, sucking on a hard candy or eating carrot sticks can help them. There are sugar free gums and candies available so that you won’t trade smoking for weight gain. Find a healthy substitute and keep it on hand at all times, for when those cravings strike.
Electronic Cigarette
Replace your pack of cigarettes with an electronic cigarette. Many former smokers have found success with these devices, which work by vaporizing a liquid that contains nicotine. When the user exhales, the cloud looks just like smoke, but it’s actually vapor. Using one of these devices can make it much easier to quit smoking, since it simulates the act so effectively.
Alternatives
Consider any therapy that can replace nicotine. Smoking itself is kind of disgusting and easy to give up, but the nicotine withdrawal usually proves the nail in the coffin of a quit attempt. Do whatever you can to deal with the withdrawal, from medicine prescriptions to alternatives like the patch, gum or even throat lozenges.
Alternative
It is very important to be aware of your triggers while you not smoking. It is easy and comforting to go back to an old habit when you are stressed, bored, tired, or feeling depressed. Being aware of your emotional triggers and having alternative plan to smoking can greatly reduce you temptation to go back to the old habit.
If you’re trying to find something to do besides smoking,it’s important to identify the situations that make you want to smoke and avoid them, or find an alternative activity to do. For example, if you tend to smoke more often when you have a lot of stress, avoid stressful situations. If you smoke immediately after meals, try chewing gum instead. Maybe take a puff off a electronic cigarette for your nicotine fix.

We’re in practically the same boat. My haubsnd has quit several times in the past year for a couple weeks at a time. I had never quit, but really wanted to get to that point where I said today is my day . Well it was this past Monday at 8:12pm. Cold Turkey!! I didn’t even tell him till Wednesday; wanted to be sure I was sure.So now we’re quitting together. Me cold turkey, him on the gum. We’re on like day 3-ish. I’ve made it everyday with none till like 9pm, and i break down and have 1 or 2 (i had my daughter destroy my secret pack an hour ago, so we’ll see how that goes). My haubsnd with the gum is different. he’s not supposed to smoke at all, so when I break down finally it’s an automatic gee i’m rubbing it in his face; i should’ve been serious; you’re not really helping me kind of dispute. We didn’t have a whole lot of conversation about how each of us wants to quit, which we need to do. i’m thinking that what’s going to get us through this is being positive on all approaches, regardless. Guilt, resentment, dissapointment, etc are not emotions that help this situation. Pride in how good today was, or how good this hour was, or how many hours it’s been, has to be the only way to get through this. We can’t put each other down, rule number 1. Neither of us has ever done this before; so neither of us truly knows what’s best, rule number 2. We are doing this out of love for ourselves and each other and can’t forget that, rule number 3.Honestly, it sucks. It’s possible that we’re going to have to avoid each other a little to make it through. Good luck to both of you
There’s so much information about why e-cigarette’s with the nicotine cartridges may not be safe but nothing about the non-nicotine cartridges. I’m on the level 2 nicotine patch and wondering if the non-nicotine cartridges are ok to use with the e-cigarette while on the patch..
